Nov 19, 2025
CONDITION: GOOD
RESPIRATION: Tachycardic; open mouth breathing w activity and recovery
CARDIAC:Rapid, some pounding
GAIT: No change, butt wiggle, 'gallop' style using front legs to hurry
NUTRITION:No regurgitation (fantastic!), honing in on better ratios of food/macro/micro nutrients especially calcium and phosphorus
Henry hasn't been weighed in a while, but i think his calories need to be reduced based on habitus. Caloric needs may be less secondary to activity ability.
Musculoskeletal: Rear limbs 0/4, no change. No pain elicited on palpation. He does do well during his PT especially vagus nerve: neck massage, pectoral muscle, hock (rear limb ankle), and entire rear limbs. (This is mentioned here specifically as it can help encourage relaxation and reduce heart rate.I've been using these techniques on Henry several times a week for six months. He does not ‘seem' to push himself into activity, but, takes the breaks his body says he needs. Ttwo changes: 1)more frequent 'flop downs' (exercise fatigue) and he seemed 'down' for a couple of weeks; 2) three “yelps with motion” — he yelped twice on Nov. 11, 2025 one day and once more a few days later. I saw his motion each time and I couldn't identify any torque. No pain was reproducible on palpation.
Plan: I have restarted gabapentin at night. Will monitor for risk:benefit.
Busy schedule — will update separately on the brothers’ short staycation together (Nov. 14-16, 2025).
Wish you were here!
